SLC Data Center
Salt Lake City, Utah
This Taylor Engineers project spans several data centers with different cooling designs on a campus in Salt Lake City. The various cooling designs include:
⦁ A chiller plant with waterside economizer serving chilled water air handlers.
⦁ A condenser water plant serving in-row-coolers and active-rear-doors.
⦁ Containerized data centers with direct evaporative cooling.
Our roles starting in 2012 and ongoing include:
⦁ Engineer-of-record for retrofit of new chilled water air handlers to accommodate major upgrades to the electrical system of a live data center.
⦁ Author and peer reviewer of the master BMS specifications for the design of a 10MW greenfield expansion. During this role Taylor Engineers identified over $1 million in construction savings as well as design and control sequence improvements estimated to reduce annual HVAC energy use by 15%.
⦁ Commissioning Agent (CxA) for the 10MW Expansion as well as CxA for several phases of containerized data centers.
⦁ Engineer of record and CxA for major upgrade to 10MW condenser water plant. This included a complete rewrite of the control sequences in order to improve reliability and efficiency, off-site simulator testing of all new sequences, and functional testing of the new sequences on the live data center.
